New Tattoo Rules in the Army

shot_1317249381275

It was announced recently that the US Army will be starting a new set of tattoo rules for new members of the Service.  New Servicemen and Servicewomen in the Army will not be allowed to have anything visible above the collar, below the elbow, and below the knee.

This rule is expected to go into effect in the next 30 to 60 days and will not impact current members who have this type of ink, as they will be grandfathered in.

We are all for freedom of expression and share this for anyone out there considering getting a tattoo but who also have the desire to serve.  Think twice about the placement of your ink because it could soon disqualify you from serving in the Armed Forces.  Though the Army is currently the only branch of the military to consider this, it is easy to speculate that this policy will find its ways into the other branches.

In addition to placement, consider what you get.  Anything deemed racist or extremist is also not allowed.  The drunken ‘Anarchy’ symbol is not seeming like such a good idea is it?  There is laser tattoo removal in Honolulu available if its too late or you might consider giving our professional team at our Waikiki tattoo studio a call.

We specialize in every type of tattoo out there and our Hawaii tattoo artists can also give you the best cover-ups you have ever seen.  Tattoo Adam, Owner and President of our Honolulu tattoo parlor, has over twenty years in the business and is more than happy to help.

Come on down for a free consultation on any Hawaii Custom Tattoos…  We got ya!

Transcending Tattoo Stereotypes

Years ago, tattoos were associated with bikers, criminals, drugs, gangsters, whores, sailors, and prison.  About the only ‘foul creature’ not associated with tattoos is the politician but anyway…

In recent years, having a visible tattoo has become more and more acceptable minus the stereotypical beliefs.  With ties, long-sleeved shirts, and suits being traded for business casual to outright casual dress codes as work, more and more employees are assessed and hired on the basis of what they bring to the table, not how they look.

To celebrate a changing of the guard, the Rhode Island Library Association has recently a tattooed librarians calendar and is selling it on its website.  Traditionally thought of as gray haired and proper old ladies, the calendar features 10 women and 2 men ranging in age, sporting tattoos!

In Hawaii, where Polynesian culture and traditions is found everywhere, the views on tattoos are not as harsh as they are in some circles.  More and more of the Hawaii 5-0 or po-po can be seen sporting sleeves of the tattooed variety and many doctors, nurses, lawyers, and people of many professions have visible tattoos.

It is refreshing to see Rhode Island taking such a positive step in celebrating custom tattooing and personal expression.  If you are looking for a place to go to express yourself in custom Hawaiian tattoos, then look no further!  Our Waikiki tattoo studio is adept at bringing your ideas to life.

Led by Tattoo Adam, who has been in the game for over two decades, 434 Tattoo has been recognized as the best Honolulu custom tattoo studio for 4 years and counting!
