Good day, afternoon, &/or evening tattoo enthusiasts from the happy people here at our Waikiki tattoo studio 434 Tattoo! Let’s get to business, shall we?
Oftentimes, the first question we hear is:
How much does a tattoo cost?
The minimum for a tattoo is $80. Why is there a minimum you might wonder?
We have a minimum rate for a few reasons. In addition to the time it takes to draw out the design, make any changes you might have in mind, we also set up the machine, get the station ready, clean-up post tattoo, and of course put the tattoo on. That’s the fun part, doing the tattoo!.
Another question we are often asked is “what is the hourly rate for a tattoo?” Most times, customers want bigger pieces and we need to look at it by the hour. The hourly rate for a tattoo is $150.
It might seem as though the tattoo artist is rolling in cash with these figures, but if you factor in building maintenance, supplies, utilities, and everything else, it all adds into what it costs to maintain a Hawaii tattoo studio.
While it isn’t exactly cheap here in Hawaii in general, our rates are on par with other big US cities including Seattle & Los Angeles. In fact, at many shops all over, you’ll find rates much higher than what we charge.
If you’re feeling torn about spending this much money or more on a tattoo, consider for a moment that many shoes nowadays cost this or more. Consider also that a tattoo will last you for Life while that isn’t the case with most pairs of shoes…

5. Soccer Star Francesco Totti made waves for taking a selfie after scoring his second goal during a game this past week. A fan loved the image so much, he went out and got a tattoo to memorialize the occasion!

3. A group is now connecting Breast Cancer Survivors with tattoo artists to create art to cover the scars from surgery.

2. One more football fan got a tattoo of his team, The Cowboys, trying to predict a Super Bowl victory. Sweet, right?!?! Well, the Cowboys lost their matchup this past week to the Green Bay Packers and have been eliminated from the playoffs. This fan is keeping his tattoo anyway. Let’s hope people learn from it and wait until after the Super Bowl is over before deciding to call their shot like Babe Ruth. LOL, like that’s ever going to happen.

What is it about Rappers and tattoos?
Rick Ross just showed his love for the NBA’s Miami Heat in a face tattoo! Check out Ross sporting a Heat logo tattoo on his face online at GQ here.
Then there’s Drake, the rapper/singer, from Canada, with roots in Tennessee, who recently got a piece repping Toronto (his third, no read on and see that it’s his second…), where interestingly enough, he was hired by the Toronto Raptors, another NBA team, to consult on their new look and branding. I guess when you’ve got more money to throw around, you can do whatever you want with your ink?

We know a thing or two about rappers and tattoos as well. Grammy winning recording artist T-Pain stopped by the shop a few years back and got his famous Like Button Tattoo while visiting Hawaii.
