Summer’s Almost Here! Tattoo Aftercare is a Must!

It might seem like Spring just began, but with May right around the corner, before you know it, Summer will be here!  The perfect time to show off that hard work in the gym or at the bar with body by Heineken, whatever the case, there’s a good chance, people will be soaking up the sun.

So…

Wear some fricking sunscreen!  Seriously, not only will you be saving your skin and overall health from the UV rays of the sun, you’ll also be protecting that beautiful ink you’ve spent time and money on getting done.

Other than wearing sunscreen, there are a number of ways to take care of your skin during the dog days of Summer:

Stay indoors between 10:00am – 3:00pm.

These are the peak hours that the sun is at its deadliest (and hottest).  In addition to cutting back on the damage you do to your skin (eyes), you’ll also lessen the chance for dehydration because it seems like people in general forget to drink water!

Cover up!

While it might not seem all that cool to wear a big hat and long-sleeves, there are a number of fashionable ways to stay covered up.  They even make clothes that provide SPF protection these days!  Get a rash guard or one of those dope plantation hats to protect yourself, your ink, and still enjoy the outdoors!

Wear Sunscreen even if it’s cloudy…

The cloudy days can be some of the worst to give people “one mean sunburn.”  Don’t believe us, try and see what happens.

Whatever you choose to do, take care of that ink!  And if you have a brand new piece, even more so avoid direct sun exposure.  When you’re 80 and look like a boss, you’ll thank us!

Star Wars Tattoos

The internet was almost crushed this past week under the weight of the release of the trailer for the upcoming Star Wars film and the leak of the trailer for next year’s Batman vs. Superman.

Fans of both franchises were ecstatic and the Star Wars enthusiasts even gathered for a festival to celebrate the Star Wars universe and its beloved characters.

This event has apparently grown each year and this year sported 45 booths of tattooists for a Star Wars Tattoo Convention, where people could get their favorite elements of the films, tv shows, books, and more inked for life.

Getting a tattoo of a fictional, pop culture hero or heroine is nothing new.  With the growing acceptance of tattoos and the growth of these product lines, it’s a sure bet that this trend will only continue.

And that’s pretty cool!

So don’t wait until the next tattoo convention, Star Wars, or otherwise to get your Jedi tattoo!  Trust your feelings Luke, and come on down to our Waikiki tattoo studio for a custom piece your inner fanboy or fangirl can wear proudly!

At 434 Tattoo we specialize in custom tattoos and would be more than happy to help you get the piece you’ve been waiting for.  Come on down for a free consultation today.

May the Force be with you!
