Where to get a Polynesian Tattoo in Waikiki

url

Where should I get a Hawaiian Tattoo?  Hawaii, duh!  Just joking but we’re sure people ask the question:

Where to get a Polynesian Tattoo in Waikiki?

We’ve got your answer! How about at our tattoo studio in Waikiki? 434 Tattoo, located at 434 Ena Road, just down from the historic Wailana Coffee House, is open 7 days a week from 10a – 10p.

Our Hawaii tattoo shop is owned by Horiyume Tattoo Adam Siehr, who has tattooed across the globe at conventions and worked extensively here in Honolulu, Las Vegas, and his native Milwaukee.

Horiryume has been working as a tattoo artist for over 2o years(!) and has been an artist his entire life, having also spent time drawing from an early age, and for a long time practiced the art form of graffiti.

Since opening it doors, 434 Tattoo has seen a large variety of clientele frequent the shop.  To this day, old time customers return for more work from around the world, after having gotten their first tattoos while on a trip to Hawaii.

Polynesian tattoos are extremely popular here in Hawaii and Horiyume has practiced them for many years.  If you have an idea or need some help in telling the story through a Hawaiian tattoo, please stop by and talk to us.  In addition to an archive of books showcasing all tattoo disciplines, the wealth of knowledge that our team contains is vast and extensive.

Feel free to make a consultation with us and we’ll meet with you to discuss your ideas, take the time to draw it up, and then the magic happens where we apply the stencil and start your outline and shading.

Polynesian style tattoos can be very intricate so let us know your time and budget and we’ll work with you to create a schedule to get the work on and looking good in a manner that you’re comfortable with.  If a sleeve takes longer than expected (many people think they can get their whole arm done in an hour when it’s more of a process that could be up to six or more hours), don’t fret because the end result is going to be gorgeous and part of that tattoo experience is enjoying the Journey of getting new ink.

Thinking about getting a tattoo in Hawaii?

When you Google Honolulu Tattoo Shops, there are almost 100,000 search results!  How do you search through 100,000 entries and refine where you should go to get your tattoos in Hawaii?  That’s what we’ll attempt to help you with in this blog from your friendly neighborhood tattoo studio in Waikiki 434 Tattoo!

1. Go into the shop.  Every tattoo parlor in Hawaii  has its own vibe and unique artists.  Here at 434 Tattoo, we’ve won the award for best custom tattooing studio in Honolulu by the local Business Review, and we like to think it’s a combination of our experience (Owner Horiyume Tattoo Adam has over 20 years of experience in the tattoo industry!), professionalism (all of our team is licensed according to the standards set by the Hawaii State Department of Health Regulations), and customer service (Check out our Tattoo Adam on Instagram  to see some pictures and what people are saying about the work!).

2. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.  Tattoo Artists are often mistaken as being unapproachable because of societal stigmas against tattoos, but they are more than happy to help you create a design you will love to wear on your body for Life!  At our Hawaii tattoo shop, we offer free consultations, so make an appointment and let’s talk stories!

3. Bring your ideas. There is no such thing as a bad idea but there are bad tattoos.  If you are clear with your ideas, whether through conceptualization or have visuals, share those and your artist is here to help you find an awesome and happy medium that fits your body.  For example.  Say you want to do a back piece but have to do it in stages.  Your artist will advise you what to do, at what time, and how so that while you’re walking around, it looks great every step of the process.

4. Be patient.  Large pieces take time and tattoos are a journey.  In some cultural, tattoos are spiritual medicine.  In others, they mark rights of passage.  Whatever the case, it’s a meaningful practice for the artist and tattoo collector so go with it!

Come on down to our Waikiki Tattoo studio!  We’re here to serve you!

Aloha!

Celebrity Tattoo Update: Amal Guessous

434 Tattoo has seen the likes of Grammy Rapper T-Pain and actor Stephen Graham get ink done from our team of tattooists here in our Honolulu custom tattooing shop.  And if you check out the pic above (story here), Tattoo Adam had the opportunity to give Iron Mike Tyson a tattoo before his infamous fight with Evander Holyfield

Well, seems like the celebs have also heard about the Tattoo train in the shop and have to see it for themselves.  Amal Guessous, founder of A&G by Amal Guessous Rock’n Roll Couture, stopped in over the weekend to get some work done by Adam.  Marko spotted a bodyguard outside and a quick Google search filled us in on the who, what, where, when, how, know what I mean???

Much thanks to Amal for stopping by.  “He already had many tattoos done by well-known artists in LA and it’s always an honor to see that and give someone a custom tattoo as well.”  ~Tattoo Adam

It’s also an honor to tattoo any and all who walk through our doors.  Stop in today for your free consultation and we’ll be happy to hook you up!

Dream Tattoos

“So this guy comes in non-stop and starts on his arm and one by one it works it’s way down the front of his body to his stomach and gets lower and lower…”

In this day and age, tattoos are being sold like hot dogs and ain’t nothing wrong with that.  In his many years in the tattoo game, Tattoo Adam has seen it all.  As a specialist of just about any type of custom tattoo including Hawaiian Tattooing and Asian Tattoo Designs, he can do just about anything.

One of the craziest stories he has involves a man who had a series of dreams and wanted the images tattooed on his body.  Tattoos on the body aren’t crazy so much as the twists this series of tattoos took  into the Twilight Zone…

“I don’t judge anyone’s tattoos because they mean something to everyone and I respect that.  But I wasn’t going to let the tattoos go any further as it progressed down his body because that’s what it seemed like he wanted…”

Check out this piece by Adam inspired by a dream of a lion tattoo and a much more mellow story.  Contact us today for your free consultation and let us help you make your tattoo dreams come true!

Taking Care of that New Tattoo

What up from 434 Custom Tattoo!  We are your number one Hawaii tattoo parlor for custom tattoo work, Hawaiian tattoos, and more!

A question we are often asked is why does every tattoo artist have a unique process of tattoo after-care in order for a tattoo heal properly?  What really is the best way of taking care of a new tattoo?

Well here at our Waikiki tattoo shop, we follow standards as set by the Hawaii State Department of Health and team of tattoo artists are also proud members of the Alliance of Professional Tattooists, an organization that advocates for great work and universal standards among tattoo artists.

At our tattoo shop, located Ena Road, we will go over any questions that you have about not only getting your custom tattoo piece done in Hawaii, we will also hook you up with proper care techniques to prevent infection and so that your tattoo heals nicely.

The first step in tattoo after-care is to remove the bandage after one hour of getting your custom tattoo piece done. Make sure to clean, blot the new tattoo gently, let it air-dry from a minute or two, and then apply small amounts of ointment as recommended by your artist. We carry our own ointment made of natural ingredients available for you to take with you when you’re on the go and if you need to put a little more ointment if the tattoo feels dry.

Many of the people who visit Hawaii want to take advantage of the ocean and the sun. That’s cool but not for your new tattoo. DO NOT go swimming and no sun light for at least two weeks after. The ocean is filled with many micro-organisms and bacteria that will wreak havoc on your brand new tattoo. After two weeks, your tattoo will be good to go and if you have any questions, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to answer them. We’ll also give you a copy of these directions to have with you.

“I got first two tattoos from other artists and once I met Adam, there was no looking back. I get all my custom tattoos from 434 Tattoo in Honolulu because I like the unique custom tattoo style and the quality of the work. Factor in that homeboys is a wizard when it comes to tattoo after-care. I followed his instructions, picked up the ointment, and my tattoos have healed awesomely and a lot more quickly than my first pieces! It was a lot simpler than what other artists and people with tattoos told me to do. Thanks 434 Crew for my custom tattoo! I won’t go to any other place in Honolulu for a tattoo!” ~ J-Dub, a satisfied customer.

If anything happens, no worries, all touch-ups on are free. Make sure you keep the highest level of SPF sunscreen and protection over your tattoo and you should be golden for life. We look forward to meeting you or seeing you again!

Custom Tattoo – Black Panther Tattoo / Jaguar Tattoo

What up from 434 Tattoo, your number one Honolulu Tattoo Shop!  Check out this custom design Famous Tattoo Artist Adam Siehr worked on for a client recently.

The kid had a dream that saw a Jaguar crawling up the back of his arm.  He is a spiritual dude and his teacher told him she saw a Black Panther so his idea was a Black Jaguar Tattoo.  The black (melanistic) coloring that occurs in big cats are what are known as Panthers, so you can actually have a Black Panther that is a Jaguar or a Black Panther that is a Leopard.

Anyway, Adam created this awesome Black Jaguar Tattoo or Black Panther Tattoo or you get the point!

Stop by today and check out our Waikiki Tattoo Parlor and get your Free Consultation and take that step into getting a custom tattoo design.

Just One More Reason To Go to 434 Tattoo for a Custom Tattoo

Just One More Reason To Go to 434 Tattoo for a Custom Tattoo

by Jason M.A. Walter (JMAW) for 434 Tattoo

While researching “A Story Told in Ink,” an article telling the story of World Famous Tattoo Artist Adam Siehr, something really interesting came up.  When I got my first lion tattoo done by Adam back in November, we talked alot about spiritual journeys and spiritual tattoos.  While we were doing the interview and I was getting another custom tattoo, this time of Black Panther/Jaguar, I asked Adam how he prepares for working on people.

“I like to spend about 15 minutes meditating before the day to focus on the clients that I have scheduled and their custom pieces.”

In my opinion, that right there is reason alone to go to 434 Tattoo Shop and why it’s the best tattoo shop on Oahu.  Mindfulness is needed to help fight the Zombie Apocalypse of mindlessness that runs rampant in our world.  The fact that Adam meditates is awesome for Hawaii Tattoos, the tattoo industry, and for our global island amidst the stars.

So let’s rewind, not only do you get a free consultation, you get amazing work by someone with 2 decades of experience, a team of tattoo artists that have tattooed celebrities such as T-Pain and Mike Tyson, and you also get mindfulness.

A Story Told in Ink Part Two

A Story Told in Ink:

Hawaii Tattoo Artist Adam Siehr Part Two

By: Jason M.A. Walter for Hawaii’s 434 Tattoo

“Guns were going off, I was 17, someone called the cops.” ~ World Famous Custom Tattoo Artist, Adam Siehr, Owner 434 Tattoo

Adam’s laughter is contagious.  The laughter, as I mentioned earlier, is that of a free spirit.  The buzz of the tattoo machine, his “paintbrush,” is hypnotic, it’s calming, it’s liberating, and I start to relax into the mood of the laughter myself.  Less than a year ago, I had no tattoos.  Since then, since my spiritual journey was undertaken fully, I started to get custom tattoo pieces done (six sessions in total) as a way to ritualize this experience of rebirth that I was going through, a way to make peace with all the Death in my life…

“There was this one time, at the first shop I was apprenticing for back in Milwaukee, where we finished up work and they asked me if I wanted to shoot a gun.”  The laughter takes me over now because I can see where Adam is going with this.  “Guns were going off, I was 17, someone called the cops.  My Mom had to come down and get me.”

I look in his eyes and I place why the spirit is free: here is a man who lives his life doing what he loves.  All the writing, this article, my completed book, that’s me following that guideline, that’s what this rebirth has been about, to rise above fear and live my life from a place of love.

I watch as Adam weaves the machine over the outline, a custom tattoo design that he put together based on an idea I had, a tattoo concept that I didn’t even have to give him a picture of.  The man is a professional, true artistic genius does not need to see, it just knows.

“I’ve been doing this for so long, you just start to get the idea of what things look like, how it flows.”  He says.  I’ve asked all my questions.  The pain of getting a tattoo is passing, it’s alluring to some, for me, it’s symbolic of the pain that I passed through in my rebirth.  I can’t think.

“You’re doing a good job, Bro.”  Adam says as if reading my mind.  And the light bulb flashes on with my next query: Describe the intimacy of putting a piece on someone.

“Oh he went there…” Andy Burley, another member of  the 434 Tattoo team of talented artists, jokes.  Andy is the only person to make it through an apprenticeship with Adam, a very prestigious accomplishment if you think about it.  Andy, a former pro fighter himself, has just a free vibe as Adam.  Forget the stigma, tattoo people are good people, the kind of people I want to be around, better character than many of the politicians I used to work for…

“There’s nothing more satisfying then seeing someone’s face after a session or talking to them later, and they are so happy with the work you’ve done for them.  That’s what it’s about.”  Adam replies.  “Tattoos are very meaningful for people and to me, nothing is better. It’s better than the money.”
