It’s your birthday.

Or maybe it’s Christmas (and in fact in two days it will be just that).

Or you just got abducted by aliens (see Georges St. Pierre, who recently vacated his UFC title Welterweight, which he’s held for five years and is suffering memory less, possibly due to abduction), and well, it’s probably time you get a tattoo, eh?

This 103 y/o Granny celebrated her recent birthday was a tattoo!  Catch the scoop here.

What to do in Hawaii during the Christmas

Hawaii is one of the prime destinations for tourists from around the world.  Known for its beautiful weather year-round, it is no wonder that people travel across the globe just to spend a few days and if they are lucky, a bit longer, here in the islands.

Many wonder what is there to do in a place like Hawaii, where snow is virtually non-existent.  Though Snow Angels aren’t an option, Sand Angels are one viable alternative and spending some time taking in the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of the islands are a must.

At our Waikiki tattoo shop434 Tattoo, we’d like to also suggest you consider getting a custom tattoo to remember your trip!  Our team of talented tattoo artists, led by Tattoo Adam, and his 22 years of experience, are more than happy to help you.  We will work hard for you and with you to ensure that you have an amazing tattoo experience while also leaving with something that you’ll be proud to wear for the rest of your Life!

So come on down to our award-winning Honolulu tattoo studio.  We’re here to help you have a great time this Holiday Season!  And stay tuned for the best Hawaii tattoo discounts and Hawaii tattoo deals!

We’ll have more on that soon…

Hawaii Tattoo Shops: 434 Tattoo is Growing

Change is in the air at our tattoo shop in Waikiki, 434 Tattoo, with Doubledown, growing through his apprenticeship and working more, in addition to our three Full-Time Hawaii Tattoo Artists, led by Tattoo Adam, owner of our shop and custom tattooist with 20 years of experience, it was time for a change.

“We picked up an additional space behind our shop,” Adam shares, “and are growing into it.”

Adam is pictured above, literally above on the second level of the new addition.  The space is developing an artist’s station, and may feature a pull-out mat, for people to lay down and get tattooed.  “That’s how it is in Japan.”

The new room has space for two artists on the lower level and one on the upper deck.  “We could have up to 5 artists working at one time.”

With change, comes new opportunity, oftentimes adversity, but that’s just Life isn’t it?

Our Waikiki tattoo parlor, is open 7 days a week from 10a to 10p and is conveniently located at 434 Ena Rd., close to Wailana Coffee House, the military Hale Koa Hotel, and in between the famous Ala Moana Beach Park and Waikiki Strip.  Come on down, say hello, and get your free consultation, ink, and more!

Hawaii Tattoo Shop Preservation

Amal Guessous came back for a ring finger tattoo with Andy last month and well, to celebrate the celebrity tattoo Andy got really drunk and slept on the floor because he needed a place to stay and look what he did…

20120703-184709.jpg

Since Andy doesn’t drink, we ruled out the first scenario and pulled our CSI hats on and tried to figure out the Truth behind this Unsolved Mystery….

The facts: Sometime between 430a-600a, someone kicked in the door and no motion occurred inside so the sensor went off.

Tattoo Adam‘s Mom had a lead: Probably bikers… Adam’s early years in tattooing included lots of bikers so it easy to see how Mom might have a hunch about bikers and tattoos.

“We did have a biker stop by, he was in all black, a brand new 40,000 dollar Harley, and had on all leather goggles rocking the Harley logo but no colors.” So we can rule that one out.

Or maybe he was undercover….

Someone upstairs was calling out to the shop “white boys!” and there was some back and forth there but nothing came of it.

Could it be patrons of the Restaurant next door because sometimes we have to rev engines on our own motorcycles and they aren’t fans of the music that Harley’s sing.

“Maybe the angry truck drivers because we put a few stickers on the trucks when they park in front.” Andy suggested.

Could it be that someone was mad about a custom tattoo from our Honolulu Tattoo studio?

“Probably one of the other guys.” Adam jokes.

“Motherfucker, why’s it gotta be one of us?” Andy inquires back.

Most likely, it was just someone drunk who kicked it. Whoever you are, not cool? What did the kind glass at our Waikiki tattoo shop ever do to you? Whatever the case, we will carry on and continue to be your favorite award winning Honolulu custom tattooing studio!

See you soon at 434 Tattoo!

Caffeine, Tattoos, and Pain

T-Pain got the real pain at 434 Tattoo, our Waikiki Tattoo Shop.  Mike Tyson got the real pain from shop owner, Tattoo Adam.  Thousands of others get the real pain each year from our talented team of Hawaii Tattoo Artists.  Point being, tattoos are painful…

Getting your first tattoo in Hawaii, or anywhere, for that matter can be a little intense.  No matter if it’s your first tattoo or an additional one, you don’t know what to expect or how your body is going to respond to the experience.  Here are a couple tips we’ve learned over the years so that the process flows:

Doubledown: “Don’t drink caffeine. In World War II, caffeine was given to prisoners so that the pain from torture would be felt more.”

Andy Burley: “Try to do something relaxing beforehand.  You’re going to want to feel relaxed, you know, get your 6-8 hours of sleep.  You should also eat a big meal and take about 45 minutes before getting your tattoo.  And relax.”

And if you’re wondering what to do after, we can go to Tattoo Adam for the (comic relief) wisdom on tattoo aftercare:  “Go to a dirty massage parlor with lots of germs, they’ll wash it down for you and put on the ointment…”

All jokes aside, there are a lot of different tips and techniques out there to make your tattoo experience, memorable, safe, and to ease the real pain! So come on down, our award-winning Honolulu Tattoo Studio, offers free consultations and touch-ups for life, and we always offer the best in Hawaii tattoo discounts and deals around!

Tattoo Time in Hawaii

It’s the opinion of our Hawaii tattoo studio, 434 Tattoo, that any day is a good day to get tattooed.  It’s kind of like that old Indian saying: Today’s a good day to die…

Well today is custom tattoo time, particularly this season because it’s traditionally a little slower.  This is the time to stop by and get more time to sit with an artist to discuss and map out a bigger piece, we’re talking Full Arm sleeve tattoos, tattoo bodysuits, you name it, the bigger, the better!

At our Waikiki tattoo parlor, we offer free consultations, a clean, professional setting, State of Hawaii Department of Health Certified environment, and we use state of the art autoclave sterilization techniques to cleanse our equipment.  That’s autoclave, not autotune, though we have tattooed autotune Grammy Rapper T-Pain.

So why wait? Come on down to and join the 434 Tattoo alumni today!  With T-Pain, Mike Tyson, and many others, you’ll be in great company!

FIN

Recently, 434 Tattoo was invaded and bombarded with a line of questioning that got us thinking about what it means to represent the Tattoo industry or be an ambassador.
Adam Siehr, or Tattoo Adam, owner of the multiple award winning Best Hawaii Tattoo Shop, is licensed by the State of Hawaii and a member of the Alliance of Professional Tattooists.  He has been a part of the Tattoo Community here in Hawaii since 1999,  and has been in the industry for nearly two decades.  He has also volunteered his time as a member of different committees in the past, working with both the State and C & C of Honolulu on laws Relating to Tattooing in Hawaii.  434 Tattoo has also recently assisted Federal officials with some of their work.  At 434 Tattoo, we are all about integrity, quality work, serving the customer, and doing what is best for both the community and the State.
Laws take time, energy, and passion to craft.  Adam can testify about this from his experience with the Hawaii Department of Health, where he took part in forming committees, organizing meetings, and keeping the minutes (Editor’s Note: And so can I from my three years in politics here in Hawaii).  Did he, his brother, his sister tattooists have to do this?  No of course not, but they care and when you care, you take the time, you put in the work, and you find a way to get done what needs to be done with what you’re given to work with.
We are all for introducing new ideas and seeing the best things come to pass for our business, but please, take the time, know what your talking about, and realize that change does not occur over night.  Many of the current professionals in the industry, were there in the trenches, battling to make things the way they are today.  While our system may not be perfect, it is growing and improving.
Case in point: until about 2002, if someone wanted a face tattoo or a hand tattoo, they had to get a Doctor’s written consent before they could get the work done.  Our legislative system is what it is and we are fortunate to be able to play a role to advocate for change. People get killed in other places for thinking about this much.
And just like getting a large piece of ink done, change is a process.  When you plant a seed, it doesn’t grow sprout the next moment.  It requires nutrients in the form of the sun, earth, and water.  And studies show when love is given to plants, they grow greater, they grow stronger.  So channel that passion and do the other work and in time these ideas will blossom…
And lastly, if you want to represent the industry, there’s a good word in Hawaii to know: Pono. Pono means a great many things, but let’s go with ‘Just’ regarding a course of action that can unite, motivate, and get work done… And to if you want to be an Ambassador, you probably shouldn’t alienate those who would be your biggest supporters.
We are 434 Tattoo.
We are here for all of you.
Can I get a Chee Huu!!!
