New Japanese Tattoo Styles – The Emoji Tattoo

Need a tattoo idea?

Oftentimes, people just want to get a tattoo to commemorate a time in their life or a trip to the islands when they stop by 434 Tattoo, our tattoo shop in Waikiki.  So they don’t really have a set idea in place.  While it’s always a good practice to have an idea before coming down, but fear not!  Our licensed professionals are more than willing to help folks figure out their next piece.

Our shop is one of the best Hawaii tattoo shops and we’ve gotten there because we help our customers with all sorts of questions.  So if you need an idea and are looking for something that’s in tune with popular culture today, consider the newest Japanese tattoo:

an Emoji Tattoo.

The poop emoji tattoo isn’t one we’d recommend off the bat, to each her/his own though, we won’t judge you, but it is one of the more popular emojis out there.  There are a ton of other popular emojis to consider as well.

Celebrities, most notably Drake, who seems to have embodied the Midas Touch, debuted a praying emoji tattoo earlier this year.  People all around the globe have also been quick to be a part of this new tattoo trend.

Emojis humble roots trace back to Japan, where the original meaning of the word was pictograph.  As their popularity grew, it has evolved to mean and represent picture characters, that are all over (aka invaded) pop culture, text messages, and a growing number of people’s bodies.

The beauty of this type of tattoo is that you can go as big, or small, as you like, and not stray from the intent of the emoji.  For an extensive look at emoji tattoos, check out this link.

So if you’re ready to get emoji with a custom tattoo or say F*ck your emoji and want a huge massive traditional Japanese tattoo piece, we got your ink needs covered!  Our Waikiki Tattoo shop is open 7 days a week from 10a – 10p.

Tattoo After-Care Year Round!

Summer is officially in the year view mirror and we are well into the Fall of 2015! Forget the sunscreen right?  Wrong answer kemosabe!  Especially in the tropics like where 434 Tattoo, our Waikiki tattoo studio is located!

“The sun is the greatest enemy of your skin.” Tattoo Adam was once quoted.  “It’ll fade and destroy that tattoo that you spent all that hard-earned money on.”

Fun Fact: The worst sunburns occur on overcast days.

So it doesn’t really matter what time of year it is, make sure you do what it takes to protect your skin! Lather up with sunscreen SPF 35, 50, or higher! Cover up with long sleeves, especially with the cooling weather and increased winds. And don’t throw caution to win just because it’s no longer the summer.  Your skin’s long-term health will thank you.

Even better, if you take care of your skin year-round, your tattoos will always look legit! Now since you won’t be in the water or elements as much because of the change in weather back home, come to one of Hawaii’s best tattoo shops and get your ink on!

Aloha!

In Other News – Weed Weddings

Tattoo acceptance is slowly creeping into the mainstream of the collective consciousness in America.  Another area that was once long-held as taboo that’s picking up steam and ‘growing’ in support – acceptance of marijuana.

As States across the country pass laws that legalize medicinal marijuana and decriminalize recreational marijuana possession and usage, there has been no time wasted by aspiring entrepreneurs leading a wave of new business models and concepts.

From http://blog.massroots.com/weed-weddings/

Such is the case with Weed Weddings.  Where traditional weddings would celebrate with champagne (or beer or wine or whatever drink you have on hand), Weed Weddings include the option to be festive with cannabis.  In place of bartenders, a ‘Budtender,’ is on hand to assist with the festivities, rolling joints on the spot for those wishing to raise their glasses, or in this case, raise their lit joints to the sky in celebration of the newlyweds.

There are even Weed Wedding Planners in some places! Business drives economies, which in turn move societies forward.  It remains to be seen how quickly laws continue to change but more power to those who are finding new ways to take business to ‘higher’ places.

Until the day we can do this in Hawaii and even beyond that, we’ll continue to be plying our trade, custom tattooing! Our Waikiki Tattoo Shop is open 7 days a week, from 10a – 10p.  We are an award-winning establishment and among the best Hawaii Tattoo shops for multiple years running!

Come on down to 434 Tattoo and let’s get your ink on!
