Hawaii Tattoo Convention – Coming this Summer 2015

The 2015 Hawaii Tattoo Convention is right around the corner!

unnamed

Tebori tattoo artist Takashi will be going to the Pacific Ink & Art Expo on August 7, 8, & 9, during his time in Hawaii but you can get your work done or started by him from July 30 at our Waikiki tattoo studio!  Check out what his bio for the Expo has to say about his work:

“Although outlines are still done by machine, this method uses a long bamboo stick, called a nomi, with steel needles arranged in rows, singly or stacked and tied at the end. The tip of the nomi is dipped in ink and pressed rapidly into the skin. This creates some of the finest shading and subtle gradations, giving the tattoos a distinct look from typical machine work.”

434 Tattoo will be Takashi’s home in the lead-up to the event and we’re taking appointments for him now!  Contact us today to learn more and to book your slot!

Wait!  Say what?!?!  That’s your random fact of the day as to what the word tattoo can mean.  Here is another definition, which you’re probably a bit more familiar with:

Tattoos are a form of body modification that have been practiced for a variety of reasons for years. From cultural significance to marks of imprisonment, today’s have occupied a place on our bodies and been a part of all walks of Life.

At our tattoo shop in Waikiki434 Tattoo, our team is skilled in all sorts of tattoo designs ranging from traditional tattoos, old school styles, new school tattoos, Polynesian tattoos, and specifically popular here in Hawaii, Hawaiian tattoos.

Take the traditional a step back and Horiyume, also known as shop owner Tattoo Adam Siehr, practices Japanese tebori tattoos, which involves the tap of the needles with and no tattoo machine.

Ultimately what our team strives to create for you are custom tattoos!

Custom tattoos are original creations of artwork, that are then applied to the body.  While Tattoo Flash is something you’ll find on the walls in a tattoo shop, and are quite popular, custom tattoos allow the Tattoo Artist to flex her/his creative muscle and design something that is unique to you.

Custom tattooing is something we take pride in and are well-prepared to do!  For a free consultation on any tattoo, come on by and we’ll happy to discuss the custom tattoo process and answer any tattoo questions you have in general!

Hawaii Tattoo Artist in Japan

Tattoo Adam, President, Owner, and Lead Tattoo Artist in Waikiki Tattoo studio 434 Tattoo, will be heading to Japan soon!  Stay tuned for some adventurous story as he seeks another tattoo piece that documents his journey.

In the meanwhile, check out this gallery highlighting Japanese tattoo styles that Adam has done, including in the traditional Japanese tattoo method of tebori!

Tebori involves tattooing a piece by hand and was the way that artists would do all tattoos prior to the introduction of machines.  Though the hand poke method is still popular in tattooing, many artists will do the outline with the machine to speed it up.

If you are interested in getting a custom tattoo, Asian tattoo, or ‘try your hand’ at tebori, give us a call today.  Our award-winning team is happy to assist any and all tattoo needs!
