Christmas Ideas – Give the Gift of Tattoo

Tree.jpg

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Christmas is less than 2 weeks away and rather than fight massive mall crowds at Ala Moana Shopping Center, why not consider taking a stroll a short bit away to our Waikiki tattoo studio.  You can get a tattoo gift certificate for a loved one or even gift yourself with a brand new tattoo!

The talented team here at one of Hawaii’s best tattoo studios has a diverse skillset and years of experience.  Led by Tattoo Adam (Horiyume), we pride ourselves in taking care of our clients with great serviced & artwork!

What fun is getting a cool piece of ink if the experience of it sucks, right?

Hailing from Milwaukee, Adam cut his bones in an old school apprenticeship and has accumulated 23 years in the tattoo industry, with years before that practicing a variety of art styles.

We are also often host to a number of talented international tattoo artists and on site we have Korean Tattooist Macho & Japanese Tebori tattoo artist Takashi with us.  A once in a lifetime tattoo can be acquired at this time should you take advantage and book a session with a guest artist when they are in town.  Who knows where you might find them next!

We are open 7 days a week, from 10a – 10p.  Come on down and get your ink on with the homies here at 434 Tattoo!

Best Waikiki Tattoo Shops

Screen shot 2015-07-29 at 11.53.53 AM

The term best is relative to experience and in this day and age weighed against reviews, word of mouth, online or otherwise.  We like to think we are among the best Waikiki Tattoo Shops because we have all of the above going for us.

Awards? We got em! Our waikiki tattoo studio has received the award from the consumer business review for best custom tattooing studio in Honolulu for 5 years running!

Loyal clients? We have and are so grateful for all of them/you too!  Many of the clients have been with our Founder, Tattoo Adam (Horiyume), since he first came to Honolulu years ago.  The internet might not be quick to recall the days of Sugar Box, the walls going up at Tattoolicious, and history might have faded some of the great memories but Adam’s been tattooing for over two decades and has put in the time to master the craft.  The returning long-time customers speak to that!

Great reviews? We have quite a few of those too.  While we admit there have also been some that didn’t cut our high standards, we take your feedback to heart to improve the customer experience by removing artists who contributed to the negativity and constantly finding ways to make our shop better.

We urge you to read through all that’s out there and figure out what you want to do.  You work hard for you money and so do we.  We want you to be happy so come down and schedule a free consultation.  That’s a great time for us to talk stories about your concept, what you’re looking for, and for you to see if you have a rapport with our team.

If you like it, which so many over the years, well let’s get to inking ya!

Aloha!

Hawaii Custom Tattoos: A Fusion

photo-1

“Brah, it looks like an American and Japanese Tattoo!”  ~ Zach

Greetings from our Waikiki Tattoo studio, 434 Tattoo!  Owned and led by Custom Tattoo Artist, Tattoo Adam, we specialize in any and all things having to do with Hawaii Custom Tattoos!

The picture above is great example of the type of custom tattooing that we do.  This customer had the words tattooed originally and then Tattoo Adam did the Angel chest piece.  He tied in the Japanese inspired cloud tattoo background to a pre-existing tattooed arm sleeve that he also worked on.  This customer also has some Hawaiian roots so maybe we will see some Polynesian tattooing  as the background for the other side.

Come on down and meet the team!  We have a whole crew of talented Hawaii Tattooists and have recently welcomed artists, Lions and Kazan aboard, now joining Andy Burley who has been here since his apprenticeship with Tattoo Adam. We can do just about anything like the examples seen above and including but not limited to Hawaiian Tattoos, New Skool Tattoos, Old Skool Tattoos, Asian Tattooing, and more.

Stay tuned for more news, views, and lots about tattoos here!

Happy Holidays! Get Your Ink This Season!

Well the world didn’t end…

Once again we here at 434 Tattoo our Hawaii Custom Tattoos studio want to wish you a very Happy Holiday season!  Be sure to catch our great Honolulu Tattoo Deals like the one on Yelp!  We also have a number of gift certificates available that will make great gifts for your family, friends, or even yourself!

The Holidays tend to bring out the best and the worst in people.  And in some cases, there are people who end up stuck in the worst their whole lives.  It’s interesting in many ways because if you scrape beneath the surface, you can find that their misery stems into all aspects of their lives.  Hopefully we can remember to spread the cheer each and every day.

In addition to spreading cheer, you might want to consider a custom tattoo that promotes your own well-being because then you will have some more cheer.

At our Waikiki Tattoo Shop, we strive to give our customers the best experience and to make them happy.  Though there may be a critic here and there, the overwhelming majority of our clientele are stoked and keep coming back.

Hawaii Tattoo Artist and Waikiki Tattoo Shop Owner Tattoo Adam has been in the game for over two decades and takes the time to give free consultations and work with his customer to ensure a quality experience.  Be sure to ask for Adam if you have any questions or concerns because he will be sure to address any of your issues.

Check out this video of Adam consulting with a customer in our Hawaii Tattoo Studio:

Halloween Tattoos

Itʻs Halloween in Hawaii!!!  Our Ohana at this tattoo shop in Waikiki is open and here for all those ghouls adventurous enough to put their costume on for Life!

To stick with the theme, we just want to share some Halloween themed tattoos

Whatʻs Halloween without a Jackʻ0ʻLantern tattoo

or two?

That last one even has the popular grim reaper tattoo design folded in the mix!  The San Francisco Giants won the World Series this year, and to celebrate their favorite team and Halloween, this person got a Panda Sugar Skull:

Nothing is scarier in Horror Movies than demonic children, well clowns are pretty scary, but this child tattoo is creepy:

This tattoo is not only Halloween themed with a Witch, it is rocking not just any witch, but is a Wicked Witch Tattoo:

It just screams:  “Iʻll get you my pretties!”  doesnʻt it?  And last but not least, what is Halloween in this day and age without a Zombie tattoo?

Make sure you brush your teeth otherwise you could end up with a mouth full of teeth that looked like that.  Be safe, get wild, and have yourself a good ole bash this Halloween.  Good thing the Full Moon past, otherwise there might be some real Werewolves out, eh?

Honorable mention Halloween Tattoo goes to this stick on piece:

We are your friendly neighborhood Hawaii custom tattoo studio434 Tattoo is open seven days a week from 10a – 10p and we specialize in Polynesian tattoos, tattoo cover-ups, and more! Stop by today for your free consultation and feel free to ask any and all questions.  We strive to give you the best experience in the World and have been voted the best tattooing studio in Honolulu four years and counting!

Tattoo Tuesday Meets WTF Wednesday!!! Face Tattoos

Note: Tattoo Tuesday is bleeding into WTF Wednesday as this was began but unable to be finished yesterday… Enjoy!

This picture of the Dude above was too epic to pass up! It is of a gentlemen rocking a face tattoo well into this elder statesmen years!  Facial tattoos are nothing new, though not so widespread or accepted in the West, but a popular form of Polynesian tattoos particularly amongst the Maori people in New Zealand.

The tattoo pictured above is a design that was done last year by Hawaii Custom Tattoo Artist, Tattoo Adam, the owner of our Waikiki Tattoo Studio, 434 Tattoo. You can read more about this style of tattoo here.

And finally for your WTF Wednesday video, we present our Editor’s attempt at an inspirational video.  Find the comedy in it folks and note that a different book is coming out… He’s going to give us copies at our tattoo shop in Honolulu so you’ll be able to scoop that up some day too and have something to read while getting your next custom tattoo.

For any questions, more info, a funny story, to get your ink, hit us up at:

Flashback Friday!!!

Instead of Throwback Thursday, we are doing Flashback Friday at our Honolulu Tattoo Studio, 434 Tattoo, owned by Tattoo Adam.  Hereʻs a flashback video we have of some fun filming awhile back as we were exploring the world of Asian tattoos and the Yakuza.

If case you just found us or are popping in from I donʻt know from Australia for a tattoo, hereʻs a little background and “GʻDay Mate!”

Adam was raised with a pack of wolves in the old school style tattooing.  He did his apprenticeship in a shop owned by bikers, where bombs go off (literally and figuratively), you get chased around with sawed offs or do the chasing (story coming soon).  Go ahead and just name it, heʻs just about done or seen it.  Not to be too morbid, he even saw someone lying on the curb after taking their last step or jump…

Sticking with the flashback theme, which takes us Back to the Future, one thing Adam has become known for is his Asian tattoo styles.  Ask someone about a Koi tattoo in Hawaii and the name 434 or Adamʻs shop, which are one in the same, come up.  You can check out samples of Adamʻs Asian tattoo art here.

“The Best part of tattooing is tattooing and seeing a customer happy with their new piece!” ~ Tattoo Adam

Stayed tuned for more great news and stories from the happenings at our Hawaii Tattoo Parlor located at 434 Ena Rd. All consultations and artwork is free, you just pay for your custom tattoo.  So chee huu to you as we say in Hawaii, chee huu!

Weʻll see you!

Tattoos and Crime

We got in the zone looking at corrupt cops and tattoos recently…

Crazy movies like Eastern Promises tend to paint a grey picture over Russian crime and tattoos.  Black and grey, shaded, whatever, we’re not afraid to go there! This is your friendly neighborhood Waikiki Tattoo Shop bringing you a little some, some about Russian tattoos and crime

Tattoos are rights of passage for many around the world.  In criminal networks, tattoos serve as symbols, reminders, and warnings about who, what, where, why and how the person the tattoo came to be.

“What’s the story behind the piece?”  Tattoo Adam, Owner of Award Winning Honolulu Custom Tattoo Studio, 434 Tattoo, has often said to this Writer and many customers who have come down for 434’s free consultations and to book tattoo appointments on Oahu.

As we scoured the Internet for information about Russian tattoos, it was hard to find anything new, they all seemed to say the same things, which gave the feeling that the history behind the Russian tattoos is almost secretive just like the movements of criminal organizations. There were a few things though that came up repeatedly.

Depictions of Jesus, and in the past Stalin and Lenin, were considered Sacred so prisoners would put these over places of their body that they didn’t want hit, like vital organs for examples.  Guards often times give prisoners body shots because they tend to be less visible than strikes to the face.  For someone with Sacred ink around the body, it makes it a little hard to hit.   Like the Asian tattoos rocked by members of the Yakuza, different tattoos represented achievements such as being a Leader or having committed certain acts.  Also, to get a face tattoo while in prison meant that the incarcerated tattooee did not have much hope to get out due to a long to lifetime sentence.

The history of Russian Mob tattoos is rich and exploring it in a blog merely scratches the service.  If you want a history lesson about tattooing in general, come on down to our Hawaii tattoo studio and talk with Tattoo Adam, who has 20 years of experience in the industry.  He’s met and tattooed his fair share of folk from all walks of life and as much as this writer loves writing, you can’t beat good old fashioned conversation!

Our shop is open every day from 10a to 10p and features three other talented Hawaii tattoo artists with strengths in different styles.  Our team would be more than happy to assist you!

Aloha no!

APEC Aftermath: Back to Tattoos in Honolulu

It’s still too early to tell whether or not the presence of APEC in Honolulu was a boon or a bust.  Many local businesses outside of Waikiki did not see much of a difference in their clientele base.  But now that APEC is in the rear view mirror, we can get back to business!!!

At 434 Tattoo,  our Waikiki Tattoo Studio, we specialize in the custom tattoo.  Our tattooists can do just about any tattoo out there (although there are some places an artist won’t go…) from thousands of Tattoo Flash designs to choose along the walls to putting together a custom piece based on an idea, picture or theme you have.

There are alot of Tattoo Parlors in Hawaii so why should you chose 434 Tattoo and not Tattoolicious, 808 Tattoo, or Koi Tattoo?  Shop owner Tattoo Adam is world famous, having been in the industry for two decades and has tattooed people from all walks of life including “Iron” Mike Tyson Marko Livingston also has tattooed celebrities including Grammy Award Winner T-Pain and is an accomplished graffiti artist in addition to being a tattooist.  The “youngest” member of our crew, Andy Burley, has earned the prestigious accomplishment of being the only person to ever complete an apprenticeship with Adam, and his book is growing by leaps and bounds.

“I was brought up in the old school way of tattooing.”  ~Tattoo Adam

All that aside, we love tattooing and we strive to share our love for what we do during the entire experience.  Our Waikiki tattoo shop is clean following the Hawaii Department of Health Protocol, we are all licensed by the State of Hawaii to tattoo, and use the most up to date techniques to sterilize our shop and equipment.

Our Honolulu Tattoo parlor is not only award winning but fun!  Come on down for your free consultation, let your Inner Child run around, and get some work with the pros at 434 Tattoo.  If you’re in the military, be sure to take sure of our Military Appreciation Special, going on during the month of November.  Ask our staff for more details.
