Summer, Summer, Summertime!

The Summer will officially be upon us soon but it already feels like it here in Hawaii! Who are we kidding, it feels like Summer most days & nights here!

The Summer Season is the busiest of the year for our Hawaii tattoo studio!  Here are a few tips to get you the best experience possible and maximize the time we have together:

  1. Schedule an appointment with a member of our team at 434 Tattoo, one of Hawaii’s best tattoo shops! Being amongst the top in the game takes hard work and dedication and as a result, our books fill up during the busy times.  While walk-ins are always welcome, we want to be sure to give you our focus and attention so if you could, would you please contact us (info below) to schedule an appointment in advance?  Thanks!
  2. Schedule your appointment for the last day/night or morning of your trip. Many people coming through will be here on vacation and we want this to be a beautiful tattoo.  As a result, you’ll want to wait until you’ve had your fill of the ocean and sun in order for the tattoo to heal its best.
  3. Wear sunscreen. This is just good practice all around and it will protect any pre-existing work that you. The sun will fade your tattoos unless you take the time to shade and care for them!
  4. Have an idea! While pulling something spontaneously can be fun, you’ll be happier and more satisfied if you have an idea to begin with. Our team can work with you and advise you on how to make it look the best so a starting point will help to streamline that process!

These are just a few tips to consider. As always, we want you to have an amazing experience so feel free to ask any questions along the way.

Aloha!

Meaningful Tattoos

Meaningful tattoos come in all shapes, sizes, & designs.  The most important part of that equation is the meaning behind so release all judgments and go for what matters for you!

Recently a brother and sister stopped by to get a tattoo to commemorate their recently departed Grandfather.  A former Hawaii tattoo artist himself, this man used the money he made tattooing to pay for college and his artisty during the Korean War, tattooing combatants who had enemy markings and wished to not carry that.  A part of Hawaii’s rich Filipino Tattoo Artist tradition, his own father had been a long-time tattoo artist and had known such luminaries as Sailor Jerry.

The family members got two initials, in honor of both their Grandfather (who had his own initials) and their Grandmother, as the two had spent the vast majority of their lives together.  Check out the design here:

If you want to get a meaningful tattoo, stop on by! We’re happy to be a part of that journey and we appreciate the depth behind the meaning!
