Star Wars Tattoos

The internet was almost crushed this past week under the weight of the release of the trailer for the upcoming Star Wars film and the leak of the trailer for next year’s Batman vs. Superman.

Fans of both franchises were ecstatic and the Star Wars enthusiasts even gathered for a festival to celebrate the Star Wars universe and its beloved characters.

This event has apparently grown each year and this year sported 45 booths of tattooists for a Star Wars Tattoo Convention, where people could get their favorite elements of the films, tv shows, books, and more inked for life.

Getting a tattoo of a fictional, pop culture hero or heroine is nothing new.  With the growing acceptance of tattoos and the growth of these product lines, it’s a sure bet that this trend will only continue.

And that’s pretty cool!

So don’t wait until the next tattoo convention, Star Wars, or otherwise to get your Jedi tattoo!  Trust your feelings Luke, and come on down to our Waikiki tattoo studio for a custom piece your inner fanboy or fangirl can wear proudly!

At 434 Tattoo we specialize in custom tattoos and would be more than happy to help you get the piece you’ve been waiting for.  Come on down for a free consultation today.

May the Force be with you!

Tattoos & Family Pt. 2

Awhile back we wrote about Tattoos & FamilyFamily Tattoos, and more, and today we’ve got a special follow-up to that.

This story probably isn’t on point to break the internet like Kim Kardashian’s backside or that blue & black or white & gold dress, but it’s slowly picking up steam.

From Blog.SFGate.com:

Screen Shot 2015-02-28 at 3.03.50 PM

This 18 mos. old was born with a strawberry colored birthmark on her leg so to support the little lady, these parents went out and got a tattoo like the birthmark.  That’s pretty cool parenting there!  The child reportedly loved it and when her Mom’s tattoo healed, touched it and said, “Match.”

You gotta love stories like this about humanity.  With so much despair and evil reported in the news, stories like help to overcome that.

So if you’re ready to get a matching tattoo like your child or any loved one, birthmark or otherwise, come one down to our tattoo studio in Waikiki.

We got ya!

Hand Poked Tattoos in Hawaii

1795625_668174863247846_606568213_n

Check out this recent custom tattoo completed at our tattoo studio in Waikiki!

This work was done by our Waikiki tattoo shop‘s very own, Karl Juthans.

This is not Karl’s first jump into the technique as he has been working on it for some time.  You can read up and see more of Karl’s tattoos done in this technique online here.

Tattooing with needles and by tapping was the original method of inking, prior to the invention of machines, and have a special place in the history of tattooing.

Recently 434 Tattoo shop owner, Tattoo Adam, returned from Thailand, where he was inspired by their own version of tattooing without machines.

Stay tuned to hear more about what Adam has in store there!

Electronic Tattoos.. Say what???

It has been brought to our attention here at our Hawaii Custom Tattoos Studio, aka 434 Tattoo, that those Science folk have created the first electronic printed tattoo!

Check out the article here for the scoops and details.  While this opens the door for new types of custom tattooing, we have to ask what kind of implications does such a novel creation hold?

Well, if the trend grows, it could lead to people choose to get tattoos printed as opposed to the traditional way in which tattoo artists have done their work, with the needle and the tattoo machine.  There are already a number of people, who never get licensed or trained properly, doing homemade tattoos with kits purchased off the Internet.  What’s next, buying an HP Printer with electronic tattoo capabilities?

Aside from what this does to the trade, the scarier thought is the idea that people could end up with mandated electronic tattoos in the form of bar codes or as a way to scan information.  Those sci-fi movies have gotten a few things right in the past, could the age where microchips in our bodies holding information be replaced with scans that gather data about us?  Will we see a black market trade of fingers or eyeballs?  Will said body parts be like Credit Cards, easily stolen?  Even scarier, are we reaching an age where they could just as easily be replaced?

Editor’s Note: I love how technology connects and simplifies our lives in many ways because it truly does a great deal of good to enhance our experience.  However, some times we needn’t open Pandora’s Box…

Anyhow, we are still in the business of traditional tattooing!  If it comes to an age where tattoos are printed, we’ll cross that bridge.  For now, these new electronic pieces flake off within a few weeks because they don’t get as deep as real tattoos. One silver lining can be seen with that is people can get a piece done to see what it looks like as a preview before digging in and getting the whole piece.  BUT, the article does note that the age where it is embedded in the skin can’t be far off; let’s hope that Blade Runner and Total Recall  like futures are far, far away…

What do you think?  Leave a comment or come on down and talk with us at our tattoo studio in Waikiki.  We are open 7 days a week, rain or shine, and we are sure to bring a shine to any rainy day mood you may have!

Aloha!

The Best in Hawaiian Tattoos

434 Tattoo, our Hawaii Custom Tattoos business located in Honolulu, Hawaii, has been recognized as the Best Honolulu Custom Tattooing Studio for four years and counting!

Recently Tattoo Adam, shop Owner and Hawaii Tattoo Artist, who is in his 22nd year of tattooing, was also recognized for his years of service and achievements in the Tattoo Industry by the same Consumer Business Review in Honolulu‘s Midweek.

Adam’s style can take care of any type of tattoo idea that you have and he specializes in Asian Tattoos, Polynesian Tattoos, and Hawaii Tattoo Designs.  Getting his start in Milwaukee, having spent time tattooing on the busy Las Vegas strip, and choosing to put roots here in the heavily beaten path of Waikiki, after 22 years Adam can do just about anything.

Check out Adam about to lay a tattoo on a customer after drawing the stencil directly on the canvas without a stencil:

Come on down to our tattoo studio in Waikiki  and come get worked on by Adam or one of our talented team of Hawaii Tattooists, all licensed by the State of Hawaii.  We look forward to inking ya!

What to Do in Waikiki? Get Some Ink!

Welcome to 434 Tattooour Waikiki tattoo Studio.  If you are looking for something fun and memorable or what to do in Waikiki on your last night, why not consider getting a Hawaii Custom Tattoo?

Tattoo Adam and our team of talented Hawaii Tattoo Artists  are more than happy to assist you from start to finish with the process.  We offer free consultations to all customers, which means you are more than welcome to come in, talk with us about your ideas, and get help in choosing a design.  We also work with you on placement and how pieces will flow on your body, if for the first time and to also co-exist with other tattoos that you may already have.

We also suggest people stop in for a custom tattoo in Waikiki on their final evening in Hawaii because new tattoos require care and it is recommended to not go in the water or in the sun because you can damage it.  You should wait at least 2 weeks for your skin to heal fully before resuming activities like swimming, tanning, and you should probably stay away from wrestling…

To see a tattooist in action, check out this video of Tattoo Adam working on an Asian Tattoo Background of an existing tattoo sleeve.

Thanks for stopping by online!  Hope you stop by in real Life, if not soon, then the last day of your trip in Honolulu!

From Hawaii to Getting Tattoos in Japan

The owner of our Waikiki Tattoo Shop, 434 Tattoo, Tattoo Adam left the islands recently to go to Yokohama for some respite and to get his own tattoos worked on by the famous Japanese Tattoo Artist Horiyoshi III.
Here are a couple shots of the fun Tattoo Adamhas been having representing our tattoo studio in Hawaii while abroad.

Adam had this to say about the picture above:
“I like to try and do things that are not allowed in America when i go to other countries, one thing is i like drinking beer on the street and train!

The other is eating meat you cant find on the menu in America, here is a picture of raw horse meat mixed with raw egg, its so Oishi, like fresh sashimi, I have been craving this for years!

I have to admit , I was a little afraid at first, but once you taste it, damn its good! Thank you Hiro san, Akiko, Hata san, and Rei san, this is one memory I will think about for a long time!”

Here we have Adam visiting Japanese Tattoo Parlor, Ink Rat Tattoo.
