The Meaning of Your Ink

IMG_20130628_092221

“What does that image mean to you?”  A question veteran Hawaii Tattoo Artist Adam Siehr, asks clients prior to drafting the idea and developing the drawing for a custom tattoo.

Siehr, or Tattoo Adam, has been doing work in custom tattooing for over two decades and it is important for him not only to do quality work, but also to provide great customer service in order to develop something that clients can be happy with for the rest of their lives.  This practice has brought in celebrity clientele (including Mike Tyson) and it is no wonder his Waikiki Tattoo Studio, 434 Tattoo, has voted as Honolulu’s Best Custom Tattooing Studio for four years and running.

It is important to put some thought and energy into your ink as it will help your artist identify how best to create what you desire.  You will also end up with something you love wearing for the rest of your Life!

At our Honolulu Tattoo Shop, we offer free consultations and the artwork is also free. You don’t pay until we ink you and that way you have the opportunity to voice what it is you want and how you want it.

The Hawaii Tattoo Parlor is open 7 days a week, 10a-10p, so come on down and say hello.  We’d be happy to get to inking you!

Tattoo Removal in Hawaii

shot_1318535588028

We prefer to put the ink on people at our Hawaii Custom Tattoos Studio and strive to assist our customers in making informed decisions that they can be happy with for the rest of their lives.  That doesn’t mean people have regrets from time to time…

It appears that Supermodel Heidi Klum is getting a Seal tattooed removed.   Klum and the singer were married with children for years before splitting up in the past year and it appears that she now wants to erase the tattoo of her former lover’s name on her forearm.

Earlier in the year, Tattoo Adam, had a taste of tattoo removal so that he could continue working on a tattoo being done by the Japanese Tattoo Artist Horiyoshi III!  Read all about Adam’s adventure with Laser Tattoo Removal in Hawaii!

The Team at Way Gone Laser Tattoo Removal, located in Kaka’ako, has the latest in technology to make the process as painless and efficient as possible.  It is practice to get multiple trips in order to get the tattoo removed as completely as possible and having the best technology and equipment.

As noted earlier, we specialize in putting on Hawaiian Tattoos and pretty much every style of tattoo, so come on down to our Waikiki Tattoo studio, 434 Tattoo, where we’ll be happy to serve you.  We also use the best in equipment and latest in tattoo techniques so you never have to worry!

Tattoos and Age

It’s a strange world that we live in, it is common among some African tribes for small children to undergo body modification and ritual scarification and no laws are in place to mandate such.  The differing values in cultures impact the interpretation of what type of behavior is acceptable.

Earlier this month, a New Mexico man was sentenced for tattooing his 3 year old nephew.  He is being required to serve a period of time in jail, spend time at a half-way house upon his release, and pay for any costs associated with the tattoo removal, psychological services.   Recently in Louisiana, there has been a call for stricter laws and regulations for Tattoo Artists.  The criticism with that is it is producing less-talented Artists.

At our Hawaii Custom Tattoos Shop, all of our Hawaii Tattoo Artists follow the Hawaii Tattoo Laws and are Licensed to tattoo in the State of Hawaii.  In addition to following these standards, Owner Tattoo Adam has a high standard for our team to follow and also makes sure to always employ a talented team of Tattoo Artists.   The client is involved in every step of the process and we offer incentives like free consultations and free touch-ups for Life for our clientele to be happy.

We won’t tattoo a three year olds or animals for that matter, but we will provide quality work and continue to go through great training to give the best in custom tattooing on the island.  Come on down today and see what makes us the four-time Honolulu’s Best Custom Tattooing Shop and one of the Top Tattoo Shops in Hawaii!

Tattooed Stories from the Life and Times of Tattoo Adam Pt. 2

20130616-075138.jpg

We left off the last addition of The Life and Times of Custom Tattoo Artist Tattoo Adam in Okinawa where the weather is a bit similar to Hawaii. We also have never shied away from talking about the Yakuza in the past. This addition to the series takes on a change of scenery in and continues to share some experiences with the Yakuza…

Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride as you learn more about the history behind our Honolulu Tattoo shop!

It all began when asked if European tattoo styles differ, Adam shared that they are a bit traditional and old school in style and popularity. This led the conversation to Amsterdam, where Adam shared his visit to the Hanky Panky Tattoo Shop. The tattoo fun in Amsterdam doesn’t stop with the shop…

Hanky Panky, named after owner Henk ‘Hanky Panky’ Schiffmacher, also has a Tattoo Museum in Amsterdam featuring tattoo memorabilia collected over the career of Henk. Google rumor has it that Pop Star Lady Gaga got a tattoo at the Amsterdam Tattoo Museum from Hanky Panky himself…

We mentioned last go around the infamous Yakuza. Yakuza tattoos are quite the thing in pop culture and gangster lore due to the rich history of the organization and its ties throughout the world. Well if you visit Hanky Panky’s, you get to see a small piece of it up close and personal.

“They had a finger in a jar on display!” Somehow Henk acquired a finger from someone affiliated with the Yakuza. The cutting of fingers usually had to do with a form of payment, each knucle and joint worth a certain amount of money, and it was also to show a loss of face when someone messed up. The removal of fingers paid the debt.

Adam also took the time to take in the sights, sounds, and smells of Amsterdam during his Journey there. You can Learn more about the museum here.

Learn more about our Waikiki Tattoo Studio 434 Tattoo by stopping by 434 Ena Road. We are located conveniently between the famous Ala Moana Beach Park and Waikiki Strip.

Hope to ink ya soon! Until the next time we talk of tales and travels…

20130602-152444.jpg

Summer time is fast approaching and that means business will be picking up at our Waikiki tattoo studio, the award-winning Honolulu custom tattooing studio, 434 Tattoo!!! We are grateful for our customers year round but the Summer is a welcome surge to balance out the occasional slow times of year. So please do call and set up your appointments so that we can pencil you in the appointment book!

Just a reminder to our customers, all consultations are free and all artwork is free. You only pay to get tattooed! Take advantage of the opportunity to speak wi our talented team of Hawaii Tattooists who specialize in Hawaiian Tattoos, Custom Tattoos, Freehand Tattoos, and The Asian style tattoos, all of which are popular here in Hawaii and around the world!

Speaking of Asian tattoos and around the world, Tattoo Adam knows a thing or two about both as he has tattooed customers from and traveled all over. Pictured above is a whole circle of clients who became friends and family who came in over the course of 2012 to get work done by Adam and the whole 434 Tattoo family.

Adam believes travel is an important part of Life and keeping the mind, body, and spirit healthy. He has been to many countries and while in visiting Okinawa, Adam used to tattoo people on the military base, as word spread that he was in town and the popularity of tattoos with military personnel.

Adam had visited Okinawa with friend and Japanese Tattoo artist, Ryo (who has also visited our Waikiki tattoo parlor in the past). Okinawa is a lot like Hawaii but it has a smaller community so there weren’t as much out there to choose from in terms of Tattoo shops when he had visited years before.

“There was however Yakuza Bike gangs…”

Yakuza and tattoos go hand in hand. Speaking of hands…
