Have Tattoos Will Travel… To Japan Pt. 2

We mentioned last time around that Tattoo Adam enjoys travel because it benefits his Soul and it’s true.  Last time around we saw in pictures how much fun he was having.  Let’s see what the Owner of our tattoo studio in Waikiki was up to next…

Two days of no sleep and not feeling tired so the party continued!  Adam met another inked brother while out in Japan!  Tattoos were long looked down upon in many cultures and Japan is no different but with the passing of time, this universal art form is a great connector!  As the Buddha taught, we are all interconnected!  Speaking of the Buddha…

After that, it was time to see the Master in one of his physical manifestations…

And another manifestation down in Kamakura.

After some spiritual practice, Tattoo Adam was approached…

By monks!  They spent some time chopping it up and Adam was told he’d visit one of the monk’s homelands this year.

Have Tattoos, Will Travel… to Japan

Tatto Adam, Owner and President, of Waikiki custom tattoos studio, 434 Tattoo, enjoys travel because of the benefits it has for the Soul.

Recently Tattoo Adam took a jump across the Pacific Ocean from our Hawaii tattoo shop to the alluring Asian Pacific country of Japan.  Not a travel newbie by far, Adam has journeyed to the Land of the Rising Star on many an occasion to get custom tattoo work from the well-known and widely respected, Japanese Tattoo Master Horiyoshi III!  Horyioshi has done much of the work on Tattoo Adam’s body and this trip is particularly special as when he returns, Tattoo Adam will nearly be suited!

Check out these images from his first night on the trip:

Befriended a bloke from New Zealand, Mark, who would go on to act as an interpreter along the way!

Mark from NZ

“From the bars all evening to the tattoo session in the morning, Sensei recommends no drinking before a tattoo…”

Sleep is the cousin of Death and there is a reason we call Home, Home.  Tattoo Adam was back out later that evening to discover…

A suprise!  Oh, the tattoo lineage and relations that you find!

Tattoos might get flak here and there from people but they serve as meaningful symbols that unite people from all walks of Life!

With that, if you’re looking for something to do in Waikiki, come and get a tattoo while visiting Hawaii!

Safe Tattoo Practices in Hawaii

“The easiest — and most important — way to avoid becoming a tattoo horror story is to research the tattoo parlor and review personal health history ahead of time.” Lizzie Johnson

The West Hawaii Today recently released this article from the Dallas Morning News about the health considerations associated with getting tattooed.   There are a great many tragic stories, particularly with homemade tattoos where the artists don’t use safe methods of tattooing, and unfortunately with professionals who don’t follow proper protocol either.

One thing we stress here at our Hawaii Tattoo Studio is safe tattooing.  We have been in the business for many years and Owner Tattoo Adam requires that the team is up to date from being licensed by the State of Hawaii Department of Health to attending training sessions.  Adam has also been an active part of advocating for tattoo safety and laws at the Hawaii State Legislature.

As much as tattooing is important from a professional standpoint, one must also consider the consumer responsibility.  Do your due diligence, if you have any questions about tattooing on any level, please feel free to ask.  If an artist shuts you down or you don’t feel a connection, it’s simple, don’t do it.

At our Waikiki tattoo shop, we offer  our clients free consultations but even if you go elsewhere and are paying to discuss at first, ask all the questions you need to. In addition to taking care of the client before and during the session, we also share verbally proper tattoo aftercare and have information available for people to take with them.  We also have natural ointments and products to take care of the skin after a fresh tattoo.

For more info about tattoos and health, check out some of our previous work here.

No matter what, even though there might be some pain involved in getting tattooed because there are needles going into your skin, remember it’s a beautifully rewarding experience and most of all, should be fun

Aloha from your Homies at 434 Tattoo!

Where is the best tattoo shop in Hawaii?

url

In this day and age, acceptance of tattoos is becoming more and more mainstream.  In places like LA, there is practically a tattoo shop on every corner the same as there is a Starbucks!

While it’s a positive that tattoos are becoming more readily embraced by the collective mass, it can be hard to figure out who the best tattoo artists in a city are.  Well look no further, because we got you covered for the best tattoo shop in Hawaii!

How can we validate such a claim?

Aside from being awarded Honolulu’s Best Custom Tattooing Studio for multiple years running (and counting!), our team is extremely experienced.  Tattoo Adam, President and Owner of our tattoo shop in Waikiki, 434 Tattoo, has over 22 years of experience!

Joining in him in the category of having two decades as a tattoo artist, we also have Lions, originally from New York but a long-time resident in the islands.  Both Adam and Lions are talented in a variety of tattoo styles but our specialty is the custom tattoo.

In addition to having extremely talented and experiences Hawaii tattooists, we also strive to offer honest customer service by giving our clients free consultations on all tattoos.  This allows the customer to get the opportunity to work with our professional team and find a tattoo that will be enjoyed for Life.

Our shop is open every day and most holidays from 10a – 10p in the heart of Waikiki, on the cusp of Ala Moana,  and most importantly our doors are open to everyone.  We have some celebrity clientele who have stopped by (Adam even tattooed Mike Tyson, picture above) but our main focus is whoever, from all walks of Life, is right in front of us!

Join us!
