Where to get a backpiece tattoo in Honolulu

Are you interested in getting a back piece tattoo?

unnamed-1

If so, our custom tattoo studio in Hawaii is your destination!

Open from 10a-10p, 7 days a week, 434 Tattoo, has a talented team led by Owner, Horiyume Tattoo Adam.  The custom tattoo artist specializes in custom tattooing and has taken on projects both big and small.

The back piece is quite the undertaking but is rewarding for both the tattooist and the tattoo collector!  The whole canvas, by tradition spans from right below your butt cheeks all the way up above the shoulder blades!  For people who get full body suit tattoos, the pieces can all weave into one giant mural spanning the entire human body!

In general, if you have an idea for your backpiece, take it and talk it over with an artist.  A good tattoo artist understands what will look great on each person’s body and will help you to factor that into the equation.  Backpiece tattoos take time to reach their apex (and even then, there’s always something you can do to a tattoo).

unnamed-3

Tell your artist your budget so that you can create a timeline and schedule that works out well for both of you. It’s going to take more than a few hours to get a great piece on your back.  You’ll also want the tattoo to heal properly between sessions.  While you can expedite it by getting tattooed in sessions that are not as spaced out, the average tattoo heals fully between 2-3 weeks so expect more pain if you go in sooner than that.

Once you’ve got the schedule, you’re ready for your first session…

Army Tattoo Protocol in Retreat

The USA Today reported that the Army might change its policies on tattoos to be more accommodating and allow enlisted men and women to become officers after recently implementing stricter policies.  Who would thought the military would be at the leading edge of anti-tattoo discrimination?

The issue which made headlines on the Internet and in the United Kingdom may some day be non-existent, but as evident here in Hawaii, that’s not quite the case.

On the one hand, it’s an Executive’s decision on how to run her/his business.  It is understandable that many businesses want to convey certain looks and feels to consumers with how their employees appear.  But the fact remains that the number of tattooed individuals is growing by the day.  It’s important to create policies in businesses, states, and countries that reflect the will of the people.

If your will is down with a custom tattoo, then come on down because we got ya!

434 Tattoo, 0ur Hawaii tattoo shop, is located at 434 Ena Road and our team of talented artists have decades in the business.  Consultations are free and we’re open every day.

Forget the hype and get inked!

Tatto Adam, Owner and President, of Waikiki custom tattoos studio, 434 Tattoo, enjoys travel because of the benefits it has for the Soul.

Check out these images from his first night on the trip:

Thailand Tattoo Adventures

Over the years, Tattoo Adam, Hawaii Tattoo Artist and proud Owner of Hawaii Custom Tattoos Studio, 434 Tattoo, has traveled to tattoo and for tattoos around the world.

Starting his tattoo apprenticeship in his home town of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Adam would venture to Las Vegas, home to many tattoo shops and the backdrop for television’s Bad Ink tattoo TV show.  In Las Vegas, Adam tattooed people from around the world including a few famous folks like former Boxing Legend Mike Tyson.

From there Adam made his way here to Hawaii, where he helped build the Waikiki Tattoo studio Tattoolicious, worked privately in Sugar Box, and has since been the proprietor of 434 Tattoo.

Located in the Heart of the Waikiki and Ala Moana areas, 434 Tattoo has seen its share of clientele and a number of talented tattoo artists have spent time here.  In addition to running a small business, Adam is a hard-working family man, with a young son, Andrew.  With so much going on, what does he like to do to unwind?

While he loves custom tattooing, Adam also loves to travel.  He has tattooed people all around the world at the locations mentioned above and at conventions in the Philippines, Thailand, and here in Hawaii.

In a few days, Adam returns to Thailand, a place that is very near and dear to him.  Adam has visited the famed Tiger Temple in addition to receiving ink and blessings from Thai monks themselves!

Stay tuned for more updates from Adam’s adventures in tattoos and traveling.  In the meanwhile, read about past experiences and catch some videos in these posts:

American Hand Poked Tattoos

Recently Karl Juthans  started this piece, pictured below:

1472223_636365346428798_98527332_n

This piece has been done in the American Hand Poked Style, and took about 6-7 hours to complete.  Picture below is the second session of the tattoo.1524790_649409325124400_903869189_n

Hand poking tattoos and tapping tattoos trace their technique and roots back to multiple cultures and this style in particular is a bit different.  For example, the Samoan and Polynesian tattooing techniques utilizes two tools to tap the the piece onto the skin.  Another variation is the traditional Japanese style of tattooing, which involves the use of a long rod to ink the tattoo into place.

Stay tuned for more updates on this style and if you’re interested in a custom tattoo, please feel free to stop by our award-winning Honolulu tattoo studio.  Our team of talented and caring Hawaii tattoo artists are very experienced, professionally licensed and certified by the Department of Health, and happy to assist you in developing a piece that you will love for the rest of your life.

Tattoo it Up!

Greetings Earthlings from your favorite Honolulu Tattoo shop, the award-winning 434 Tattoo!  The Holidays are fast approaching/upon us and it is time for Thanksgiving this week.

In light of this, here’s a cool tattoo story about someone’s first tattoo.  The first time anyone gets tattooed is a bit sacred in many ways. The first tattoo represents many different things, has even more meaning in various ways, and is always a truly unforgettable experience.

This woman, aged 83, decided to get the expression, “Carpe Diem.”  The Carpe Diem tattoo means “Seize the day” and the phrase was popularized in the Hollwood movie, Dead Poets Society, aptly named for the words are the last line of a poem by you guessed it, a dead poet!

So Seize the Day because you never know what is going to come or go, start or end, and have a great week of happenings!  And if seizing the day involves getting your first tattoo or a tattoo in Hawaii, please feel free to holla at our crew!  Our team of talented Hawaii Tattoo artists, led by Tattoo Adam and his 20 plus years of tattooing, is more than happy to help you with your very own custom tattoo.

Take care and ahui hou (see ya in Hawaiian)!
